Water is a basic human right and a necessity for life. It’s time for our local communities to recognize this human right and protect our water as a public trust -- never to be privatized for profit.
Across the world, city by city, town by town, residents are getting organized to pass resolutions to become a Blue Community. Sign up to volunteer with Food & Water Watch and we’ll send you a Blue Community toolkit with everything you need to get started.
Being a Blue Community means:
(1) Recognizing and affirming the human right to water;(2) Rejecting all forms of water privatization;(3) Committing to phase out the use of bottled water at municipal events when safe tap water is available; and (4) Supporting federal funding for water infrastructure through the WATER Act.
Together we can help our towns become Blue Communities and ensure that every person has access to safe, affordable public water.
