The constant barrage of bad news about climate change - rising temperatures, extreme weather events, increasing pollution - can feel overwhelming and insurmountable. Don’t give up hope and let climate anxiety get the best of you! As we start the new year, Food & Water Watch will host experts in dealing with climate anxiety so that you have strategies and tools to remain calm, centered and focused on the power we have to make real change.

Social Media as a Tool for Activism

Social media is a powerful tool to spread awareness about a cause or issue. The art of science communication is an important skill that goes hand in hand with successful social media messaging. We will screen a session from our September Virtual Conference featuring a youth climate justice activist who shares strategies for talking about complex environmental issues in an accessible and engaging way, whether you’re using Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or something else.

Voices of the Future: Youth Filmmaker Screening

In collaboration with One Earth Film Festival, Food & Water Watch will be screening short films from the 2021 Young Filmmakers Contest. These films depict climate and sustainability issues, are solution-based, and are sure to inspire you to action. We will have a special opportunity for Q&A with these talented filmmakers after the screening.

A Bridge Fuel to Nowhere: Stopping Natural Gas Infrastructure

Natural gas, primarily produced from fracking, is being touted as a “cleaner” fossil fuel by the industry, but those living near natural gas power plants know it’s anything but clean or safe. This event explores a soon-to-be-released Food & Water Watch research report documenting the stories of communities living in the shadow of these facilities - and how we can fight back.
