California is in an unprecedented drought — farmers are struggling to survive, and individuals are being mandated to conserve. But so far, the oil industry has been left untouched. This is the industry that uses 80 billion gallons a year.
Recent reports by our allies at Water Defense show that this egregious water use gets even worse — Big Oil is failing to safely deal with the billions of gallons of wastewater that drilling produces. In the past several months, Water Defense's own testing and reports have unveiled that oil companies are pumping their waste into protected aquifers and selling it to farmers to irrigate their crops.
Enough is enough. It's time that Governor Brown rein in this out-of-control industry and ban fracking now. Send your message today!
