Perdue has teamed up with Bioenergy DevCo to sell Sussex County officials a greenwashed nightmare. They want to build a massive industrial complex to produce explosive factory farm biogas near Seaford, Delaware -- in a residential area. Perdue sees this as yet another chance to prop up their unsustainable chicken factory farms, and they’re trying hard to greenwash this project as “renewable.”
If approved, this factory farm biogas scheme would accept waste from states across the region and entrench factory farms by creating a market for their waste.
Last year, the Sussex County Planning and Zoning Commission tried to rubber stamp Bioenergy's proposal without a proper application or public hearing. Our coalition stopped them. Now, going through proper channels, this facility needs a "conditional use" permit approved by the Sussex County Planning and Zoning Commission and then the Sussex County Council.
Tell Sussex County officials: This project would be a disaster for the environment and local communities.
