Governor Cuomo in New York. Governor Christie in New Jersey. Governor O'Malley in Maryland. Governor Hickenlooper in Colorado. What do these governors have in common? They're all in states that are fighting to ban fracking — and they're all planning to run for president in 2016.We need to make it clear, if they support fracking now, their decision will come back to haunt them in 2016. Fracking for natural gas means millions of gallons of hydraulic fluids - a mixture of toxic chemicals, water and sand - into a well to create pressure that cracks open rock deep underground, and this process can deplete and contaminate local water, damage the environment and threaten public health.Let's send them a message that fracking isn't worth the risk to the citizens in their states... or to their political ambitions.
Sign the petition to tell these presidential hopefuls to ban fracking in their states.
Governor, please stop fracking!
I urge you to protect our drinking water and our public health by passing a ban on on hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, in your state.
The news has reported that you're planning to run for President in 2016. I'm writing to let you know that I oppose fracking, and that I won't support a presidential candidate who has supported fracking.Your state faces a choice: you can allow fracking, and put the well-being of your people and the environment at risk. Or you can ban fracking, and protect your citizens from the dozens of toxic chemicals that are used in the fracking process, protect our precious fresh water from over-use, and avoid a host of other ill effects that have already been felt by states where fracking is happening.
I urge you to do the right thing and ban fracking in your state.
Sincerely,[Your Name] [Your Address] [City, State ZIP]
